SIANG (YOMGO) RIVER FESTIVAL 2009

The Siang River Festival (Yomgo) has entered its 3rd year. Started in the year 2007 with a view to promote tourism, culture & tradition, handloom & handicrafts of the district. The festival has its genesis from the River Siang from which the West Siang District has its name originated. The confluence of two rivers Sipu & Yomgo and which is a major tributary of River Siang which ultimately joins in Brahamaputra.

The Siang River Festival is celebrated to promote the rich prospect of tourism. It is such platform where the varied culture & tradition, handicraft, handlooms, the food & life styles of each tribe are show cased in a single platform. It gives an opportunity to give an insight into each tribe and gives a first hand knowledge to locals as well as tourists visiting from outside in a single platform.

The Siang River Festival is going to be celebrated from January 11th to 17th 2009. The major event which was organized by the district administration in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India and Dept. of Tourism, Govt. of A.P . This time the responsibility of organizing the Siang River Festival 2009 has been handed over to the District Sports Association, Aalo a registered NGO.
