51st Edition of World Environment Day Celebrated by Along Forest Division

Aalo the 5th June 2024: The 51st edition of World Environment Day was celebrated at Bahadur Hill Reserved Forest Division at Aalo, organised by Along Forest Division. The programme was attended by Ms Mamu Hage, IAS, DC West Siang District, Shri Abhimanyu Poswal IPS, SP West Siang & Prince Kumar IAS, ADC West Siang, Officers from various departments & students from RK Mission School Aalo.
Welcoming all the guest Gopin Padu DFO Aalo in his address briefs the importance of the World Environment Day and requested citizens of Aalo to help him in conserving and protecting the Bahadur Hill RF, The lone reserved forest in the vicinity of Aalo town.
Addressing the participants school children, DC West Siang IAS Mamu Hage explained the global concern over emission of greenhouse gases leading to global warming, and the role played by forests and trees in carbon sequestration and mitigation of global warming, and applauded Along Forest Department for organisng such events in open forest area in a very practical way.
Abhimanyu Poswal, SP and Prince Kumar, ADC also shared importance of Afforestation and request every corner of citizen to equally participate in conserving forest and trees, rather than leaving the entire task to department only.
Nature walk or foot-tracking from foothills to peak point (5400 ft) of Bahadur Hill and plantation of fruit bearing trees at the top of hills were one of the special events of the day.
The programme culminated with free distribution of saplings and cleanliness drive.
