Aalo 31st July:- World Ranger Day was celebrated in Aalo Forest Range Office to mark the efforts of forest frontline staff who works day and night to protect the environment and wildlife. World Ranger Day was first celebrated in 2007 by International Ranger Foundation which have 54 member countries but it is hardly celebrated in India.
Dhawan Kumar Rawat, IFS I/C of Along Forest Range thought of it as an opportunity to recognize the effort of our staff and motivate them. The wish is that from next year this becomes an annual function across all forest divisions of Arunachal. It was also marked by experience sharing of Forest Staff some of whom have put as long as 30 years in service.
The event was graced by the presence of Mrs. Swetika Sachan, DC West Siang, Mr. Abhinav Kumar, DFO Along Forest Division, Mr. J. Basar, SP West Siang and Ms. Martha Ratan, ACF Along Forest Division. All the guests appreciated the efforts of forest staff and also encouraged them to work hard as present times are more challenging than before when there is vast afforestation and hunting. They also promised to help the Forest Department in whatever way they can.
The idea of World Ranger Day is to let people know about the unsung heroes who very rarely come in limelight but work hard whether it is plantation work, Poaching or illegal felling cases or animal rescue operations.
