Agriculture Department Conducts First Ever Kisan Mela in Shi-Yomi District.

Shi-Yomi 14 Dec:- The department of Agriculture conducted first ever Kisan Mela1 at Shi-Yomi district at Old CPO Hall Mechuka on 13th December last. The programme attended at large by more than 150 farmers from Tato, Monigiong and Mechuka was inaugurated by the Shi-Yomi Deputy Commissioner Shri Mito Dirchi amid fanfare.
Addressing the mammoth gathering, Deputy Commissioner urged all farmers to change their outlook and shift from sustenance farming to commercial organic agriculture so as to cater the rising demands of growing population. He further asked farmers to grab the opportunity of all the schemes being provided by the department. He also distributed various tools and implements to the farmers on the occasion.
In his key note address, Agriculture Development Officer Shri Tojo Bam dwelt at length the importance of agriculture in present day scenario and also informed and highlighted the various scheme being implemented by the agriculture department.
District Agriculture Officer Shri Bingum Padu, District Veterinary Officer Dr. Jummo Ete, District Horticulture Officer Smty Dugnya Ete and Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Shri Nyage Loya also spoke on the occasion.
