District Police Complaint Authority(DPCA) awareness meeting held at Aalo

Aalo the 22nd May 2025: The District Police Complaint Authority(DPCA) meeting was held at the DC’s Conference Hall Aalo under the chairmanship of Shri Koj Tacho EAC i/c DC West Siang. DPCA is established to investigate complaints against Police  Officers below the rank of Superintendent  of Police. The DPCA function at the District Level and  responsible to addressing the allegation of police misconduct including custodial deaths, extortion and abuse of authority etc. Police complaint Authority is the impartial authority appointed by the Government. The Police complain authorities under the directives of supreme court of India in the year 2006

            Aalo is the central zone of DPCA and its chairman is Sri Goto Ete former Information Commissioner. Shri Moki Loyi former Deputy Commissioner  a member of DPCA welcomes the participants and highlighted about the role and responsibilities of DPCA.

            Delivering the key note address, Shri Goto Ete Chairman DPCA state that  24 states and 7 Union Territories in India have implemented police Complaint Authority. He emphasized that any member of the public wishing to file a complaint with the DPCA must enclosed the affidavit and submit to the DPCA. The DPCA investigate complaints, adjudicating allegations, ensures  witness protection, and allow its members to visit the police stations. The central zone of DPCA is Aalo and covers five districts.

            West Siang SP Shri Kardak Riba assured full cooperation with the DPCA and urged the DPCA members to conduct more outreach programme to raise  awareness of the Police Complaint Authority among  the public of  entire 5 district.

            Shri Eken Bam, Circle Officer(Judicial) thanked the DPCA headed by Sri Goto Ete to conducting the awareness programme.

            Shri Doi Ado Ex-Minister, Shri Kento Ete  Ex-Minsiter , Sri Gadam Ete Ex-MLA also spoke during the awareness meeting. The meeting was attended by senior citizens, ZPMs, the public and HoDs.
