DM Issues Executive Order Banning all Kinds of Fishing in Open Rivers/Streams.

Aalo the 24th Dec: The district Magistrate West Siang District, Smti Swetika Sachan has issued an Executive Order banning all kinds of fishing in open river and streams during the breeding season to control dwindling aquatic population in the rivers and streams. The order has been necessitated to stop the large scale fishing activities hiring professional fishermen from outside the state causing irreparable aquatic ecological imbalance as per the general meeting with public leaders, NGOs, GBs, Ex. PRIs of Aalo Kamba and Darak at Darak under the supervision of District Administration at Gumin Kiin Aalo. The meeting decided to unanimously to make a blanket ban on all kinds of fishing using gill netting, fishing nets, explosives, chemical, arrow shooting and electrocution etc. for a period of three years from 1st April 2020 to 31st March 2023.
The police, administrative officers and HGBs have been asked to keep close vigil on violators of the order to take appropriate action as per the Arunachal Pradesh Fisheries Act 2006 and any other penal provisions.
