DTCC and ES to Ensure Tobacco Free Zones In Govt. Institutions.

Aalo 13th August: – In its continued effort to ensure a Tobacco Free Zones in schools, medical and govt offices, the District Tobacco Control Cell, Enforcement Squad and Head of Offices reviewed the course of action under the Chairmanship of West Siang Deputy Commissioner Smti Swetika Sachan at Conference Hall today.
Initiating the discussion the DC stressed on awareness campaign at all level and put up hoarding on ban of tobacco products in local dialect in all sensitive locations. She also instructed Tax and Excise department to cancel all ghumtis operating in different locations indulging in all such sale tobacco products. The DMO Dr. Moli Riba said that it is always important to evolve a coordinating mechanism to implement the rule in all govt. institutions through Enforcement Squads and Flying Squads in the district. Dr. J. Kato gave detail deliberations on COPTA Act 2003, Campaign launched so far in the district and declaration of Tobacco Free Zones through power point presentation and Miss Miti Gammeng Psychologist, DTCC Aalo elaborated on the role of civil society in checking the use of tobacco products in public places. Yomcha, Darak , General Hospital Aalo and Town Middle School have already been declared as Tobacco Free Zones.
