Gandhi Jyanti Celebrated

On 2nd October:   The Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with enthusiasm and gaiety in West Siang district with series of social services and Prathana Sabhas in various parts of West Siang district today. Shri Tumke Bagra Minister Industries, Textile and Handicraft along with State President Kishan Morcha, District BJP President, its frontal organization, women wings, teachers and students paid floral tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation to mark “Seva Aur Samarpan Abhiyan” of the govt. in P.I colony Secondary School today. This lone statue of Gandhiji in Aalo town was sculptured in front of the then Primary school by a teacher, D. Kalita in 1981 and it was formally inaugurated by then Chief Minister, Shri Gegong Apang in 1982. The Organizing Committee led by Shri Kirdo Ete worked hard to clear the jungles in the site and renovate the statue to organize the function there.

            The West Siang Deputy Commissioner Shri Penga Tato personally led the Social services in DC office and monitored all works at Medical Complex, Bazaar areas, sectors of Aalo town and said that our society has been involved in such social services through the ages all walks of people should involve themselves voluntarily to keep up the true spirit and healthy tradition to promote sense of cleanliness among the people through social services.

            The BJP Aalo west led by its Mandal President Shri Tumge Ete and his team renovated the potholes near Nehru Chowk. The SFS College conducted Social services at General Hospital Aalo. Cleaning works were carried out in all sectors, govt. offices and market places to mark the day.
