National Girl Child Day themed Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Observed:

Aalo 24thJan: – The National Girl Child Day was observed along with 640 districts of India with theme €œEmpowering Girls for a better tomorrow€ at Gumin Kiin today. The Programme organised by ICDS under the supervision of district administration was attended by large number of school children and women that thronged the Aalo Streets on procession with posters, banners and slogans in the morning.
Attending the occasion as the Chief Guest, the West Siang Deputy Commissioner, Swetika Sachan said that girl child deserves special attention and all flagships programmes initiated by the central and state govt. should reach every girl child. Today govt. has enacted various laws to safeguard the interests of girl child to do away all gender differences prevailing in some communities and societies. The Guest of Honour, Dr. Nyage Geyi said that gender gap that exists today should be bridged and that sex determination is a gross punishable offence.
Earlier, Shri B. Koyu, In Charge DDICDS spelt out the main objective of organising the day. Release of promo video on Girl Child, drama on “Hum Komal Jarur Hain Lekin Kamjor Nahin”’ distribution of prizes to couple who underwent tubectomies after bearing only girl child, birth certificates to girls and prizes for proficiency in class V, V111, X and X11 from govt schools were give prizes on the occasion.
