RNTCP Creates District TB Forum, Felicitates TB Champions.

Aalo30thth July:- The maiden meeting on Renewed National TB Control Programme held under the chairmanship of West Siang ADC, Shri C. Chukhu felicitated all TB Champions in the Conference Hall of DC Office on 27th July last.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri C. Chukhu said that TB is a common disease prevalent in our society and screening tests should be carried out in an intensified manner to detect patients for systematic treatment free of cost and to eradicate it. Social stigma and taboos associated with the disease too is a hurdle and awareness on this aspect is also essential for to get greater coverage under the programme. The West Siang DMO Dr. Moli Riba and Dr. Jumge Padu MO Yomcha also gave detail stressed on zeroing the defaulters gradually and disclosed that immunization mapping for the district is also being worked out comprehensively.
Dr. Karmar Dirchi, DTO Aalo and Member Secretary RNTCP for four districts dwelt at length on importance of forums, types of TB, community based TB activities, patients support service, awareness creation, prevention of TB, social support, institutional structure, community empowerment etc. through power point presentation. Despite best effort of health, 40% of the people who develop TB in India are still either not diagnosed or are not reported and eradication of the disease by 2025 as deadline set by govt. is a tough task ahead, he said.
