Sensitization Programme on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Held.

Aalo 4th jan:Awareness cum Orientation Programme 2021 on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) organized by the Department of Women and Child Development, West Siang District was held at Gumin Kiin on 5th January last. ADC Shri Liyi Bagra as Chief Guest, District level officers from Health, Education, WCD and Frontline Workers from the departments and Community Leaders like PRIs and Women Groups, Students and SHG members. While appreciating the department for organizing such Awareness Programme, the ADC exhorted the frontline workers and members of Civil Society to come forward and participate in such programme to get themselves updated on the services available under these schemes and further spread of awareness in the public domain. He further urged the department to create more awareness to take this flagship programme of Govt of India in the rural areas and villages. ZPM Shri Tumpe Ete condemned POCSO related cases, encouraged equal property right for girls in customary law and urged women organization to address the drugs menace. ZPM Shri Gumsen Lollen stressed on creating more awareness at gross root level to make it a vibrant movement among the rural folks to reap all advantages. Presetting the details on BBBP, Smt. C. Tangjang (DDICDS) informed that the programme is being convened to reorient the Frontline Workers of Line departments like AWWs/ASHAs and PRIs. She highlighted objectives and services of BBBP and all related schemes like ICDS, ICPS, SABLA of WCD, and Dulari Kanya scheme of Health Deptt etc. in terms of their relevance to the Girls child. PPT on ICPS and SAG was also presented by the Protection Officer, DCPU and CDPO Aalo West. Shri Yomto Lollen, DPM highlighted various women centric schemes implemented by the Health deptt and Shri Jarny Boje, BEO highlighted various scheme for girls such as Free uniform, books, separate toilets, napkins etc. under VIDYA. Highlight of the day long programme included felicitation to Girl students of Class X and XII for their academic excellence by way of citation, cash award and distribution of Water Filters to the AW Centres of the district. Under the BBBP programme sanitary napkins and baby kits were provided to the District Hospital for the mothers. Around 95 participants attended the programme conducted following all COVID-19 protocols.
