SICs Conduct RTI Awareness cum Sensitization Programme

Aalo 09 Dec:  One day Awareness cum Sensitization Programme on RTI to all Head of Offices, PIOs and APIOs of the district by the State Information Commissioners was held at Conference Hall of DC Office today.

        Addressing the gathering, Shri Gumjum Haider said that the Commission has been working actively since 2005 as a Statutory Body with an objective to promote transparency and accountability in working of every public authority and department officers should be able to furnish any information sought to them without avoiding it. The awareness and sensitization in all district on RTI is felt essential in the districts to do away many of the confusions and growing cases in many places where govt. officers are dragged in the Commission court wasting times. He dwelt elaborately on historical perspective of RTI, fundamental rights, Acts, obligations, powers of the Commission, jurisdiction of the court etc.

             Smti Sonam Yudron, State Information Commissioner reiterated that few departments are found to be  without PIOs and APIOs and it is mandatory for all departments for speedy disposal of all cases on proactive. The information sought should be disclosed and provided in a clear cut and legible manner under the law that has access to information, records, notes taking print outs and photocopies. The SDO Shri Henkir Lollen and PIO Smti Koj Yabyang extended gratitude to Commission members for personally visiting the district to impart  all important training.

 In the interactive sessions, the HODs,  PIOs and  APIOs the issue like mounting cases of filing of RTIs for sake of  harassments, well to do people filing RTI on BPL cards and wastage of working times on replying to RTI activists.
