Water Supply of Aalo Township disrupted.

Aalo the 3rd July 2024: Heavy landslide on Saturday, the 29th OF June 2024 triggered by incessant rainfall had broken the 300 mm dia DI main pipeline line supplying water to Aalo Town from Ene source. The massive landslide, near the bridge over the Sipu river has also blocked the Nigmoi-Aalo bypass PWD road.
Around 60m stretch of pipeline has been affected. Some pipes have been washed away while the others have been buried in the mud.
Along with the DI pipes, 65 mm GI pipeline supplying water to Yeggo village has also been broken, buried & washed away in the landslide.
1 Poclain machine has been engaged for clearance of the landslide as well as recovery of the available pipes. 1 more machine will be pressed to task from tomorrow.
Once the landslide is cleared, fitting & fixing work of pipes will be done. As such, the restoration of water supply is likely to take 10 more days. The PHE& WS department has requested the people of Aalo to bear with the inconvenience caused due to natural disaster.
Meanwhile, some of the colonies of Aalo Town, especially of the lower areas are being provided regulated water supply from Hide & Hisum sources. The rest of the colonies, especially of the higher regions are supplied water through hired tankers(Tatamobile) in collaboration with the District Administration and the Presidents/Secretaries of the respective colonies.
