World Blood Donor Day observed at Aalo

Aalo the 14th June 2024: State level celebration of World Blood Donor Day was organized at Gumin Kiin, Aalo, West Siang on 14th June, 2024. The main motive to take the state level celebration was to disseminate the messages of voluntary blood donation pan Arunachal with focus on districts. The programme was organized by Blood Centre, Zonal General Hospital, Aalo with the active support from State Blood Transfusion Service, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh.
The main highlight of the event was felicitation of voluntary blood donors with exemplary contribution and cultural programme laced with messages of promotion of voluntary blood donation. A voluntary blood donation camp was arranged by Blood Centre, Zonal General Hospital, Aalo. A selected list of highest blood donors from the state & at district level were distributed with a certificate & memento from the hands of Chief Guest & Guest of Honour.
The programme had participants from various stakeholders viz, jawans from 7JK Rifles & 5th Infantry Brigade, Aalo; members from Mothers’ Vision, Aalo; members from Arunachal Voluntary Blood Donor Organisation(Aalo Unit), NSS volunteers from SFS College, NCC cadets from Govt. Higher Secondary School, Aalo, AP Gorkha Welfare Society, West Siang Unit, students from Govt. ANM School, Aalo and members from AP Women Welfare Society, West Siang unit.
Shri Prince Kumar, IAS, Assistant Commissioner and Col. Harish Negi graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.
Shri Kento Ete, Former Minister & President ATPDWS, Dr. Dubom Bagra, DMO (west Siang) & Dr. Karke Rina (Med. Supdt, ZGH, Aalo) graced the celebration as Special Guests. Many renowned personalities from different walks of life from west Siang District attended the programme to motivate the voluntary blood donation movement.
Directorate of Health Services Dr. Joram Khopey, Deputy Director (SBTC) delivered a brief note on the observation of World Blood Donor Day. He thanked all Blood donors in the state for their altruistic act in saving human lives through voluntary blood donation. He also thanked the staff of all Blood Centres i.e the Blood Centre Medical Officers, Laboratory Technicians, the Counselors, the Nursing Officers for their untiring efforts to make the Transfusion Services in the state a robust one. He exhorted the CBOs, Unions, welfare societies, Associations, individuals to come forward and donate blood even when no one requires blood so that the shelves of Blood Centre are full to tackle any exigency situation.
The entire programme was organized and coordinated by Dr. Rijjum Taso Karbak, Blood Centre, MO in liaison with Shri Dony Taying, Astt. Diector (VBD), BTS.
